In order to further expand the international perspective, strengthen the awareness of foreign-related laws, cultivate comparative legal thinking and improve the level of legal English, with the strong support of the university and the college, dozens of students from the Law and English double degree class, the computational law class and other classes attended the course "Comparative Criminal Law" in July 2022.
Professor Lancaster, from Louisiana State University, has many years of teaching experience, having taught comparative criminal law courses in several countries and having taught at Yale University, Indiana University, and Grenoble-Alpes University. He introduced the students to the criminal law systems of different countries and explained in detail the differences that exist between countries in terms of legal traditions, the role of policing, adjudication and dispute resolution systems, punishment theories, juvenile systems, the death penalty and corrective management.
During the two-week course, Professor Lancaster used a variety of teaching methods to encourage students to actively participate in class and strengthen their English expression skills, and invited his own students and other professors to discuss with our students. At the end of the course, the students felt that they had benefited a lot from the active thinking and enthusiastic speech in class, their minds were further stimulated, and they had a deeper understanding and learning of criminal law. The summer school course provided a broader international platform for the students, helping them to better develop into foreign-related legal talents and lay a solid foundation of international law.
